Inkjet
Printing method in which dots of ink are sprayed onto paper to create image. Some printers can lay down 1440 dots of ink per inch, yielding photo-quality prints.
InkJet Printer
A printer in which the image is made by tiny ink droplet which are sprayed from a nozzle onto a piece of paper. InkJet printers can produce high resolution color or black and white images.
Interpolation
The process of adding or subtracting pixels to an image to increase or reduce its size while retaining a desired resolution. Also known as resampling or upsampling and downsampling. Differs from re-sizing in that re-sizing an image always results in a change of resolution because pixels are not added or subtracted - just pushed together or spread apart.
IP
Internet Protocol, the standard that defines how messages are passed from one machine to another on the Net.
IP address
An IP address is made up of four numbers, each less than 256, joined together by periods, such as 123.45.678.90
ISO Equivalency
A measure of the digital camera's sensitivity to light using conventional film speeds as a yardstick. Most digital cameras have fixed ISO equivalents but others can be set to sensitivities ranging from 80-640 to achieve adequate exposure under different lighting conditions.
